Aline Morales - Brazilian Percussion Workshop

Culture Days at the Libraries

LACAP held Capoeria, Latin Drumming, Brazilian Percussion, Salsa Dura, and Capoeira workshops and presentations at various priority neighbourhood libraries around the City of Toronto: Flemingdon Park Library, Hillcrest Library, Jane/Dundas Library, and Bendale Branch Library.

LACAP had the opportunity to provide Performance Art, Printmaking, Son Jarocho, Brazilian Percussion and Columbian Music workshops with a Latino group of children that met at the Jane and Finch Community and Family Centre every Friday during the summer of 2014.

LACAP held a variety of hands-on art workshops during the all-day high schools Enrichment Day. An opportunity to engage in discussion at the end of the workshops during an assembly gave the opportunity for students to ask relevant questions regarding the artist’s work and experiences.

Latino Percussion Workshop - LACAP

Lula Lounge

Students from George Harvey Collegiate Institute visited our partner’s venue to engage in two workshops of Mexican and Columbian Music. Students had the opportunity to practice rhythms and learn songs on Toronto’s most well known Latin music stage.

Art Gallery of Ontario

The Free After Three program at the AGO offered two 5-week sessions for youth: Video Art in Latin America and Political Poster Art in Chile.

Nahum Flores & Jesus Mora - Mask Making Workshop - LACAP

Hillcrest Community School

Art of the Americas programmed various workshops for the entire school, over 400 children learned about visual art, music, dance, and the culture of various Latin American countries and added a mural of their own to the school.

Latin American children participated in a 2-week subsidized summer camp at the community centre where they engaged with various art disciplines. The camp ended with a final presentation of what they learned from their background and culture.
